Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Mortgage, the Director of Mortgage Sales is responsible for driving mortgage sales growth, expanding market presence, and fostering a high-performing sales and service culture. This dynamic leadership role will oversee non-producing sales managers, who manage both retail/branch and self-sourcing Mortgage Loan Officers (MLOs), and spearhead expansion into new markets. The Director will work closely with operations teams to ensure exceptional service quality, collaborate with Marketing to drive sales initiatives, and engage with community partners to create lasting value for members and communities served.
Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the mortgage sales team, including non-producing sales managers and MLOs (both branch-based and self-sourcing).
- Market Expansion: Develop and execute strategies to build new teams and expand into new markets, leveraging local processing, underwriting, and servicing teams for support.
- Performance Management: Set aggressive yet achievable goals for service quality and sales performance. Inspire teams by leading through example and fostering a culture of excellence.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Operations, operations managers, and Marketing department to ensure seamless integration of sales and operational processes fostering a collaborative environment that enhances both member experience and team effectiveness.
- Community Engagement: Establish and nurture strong relationships with local housing non-profits and business partners to create value for the membership and support communities.
- Sales Process Optimization: Continuously refine and improve sales processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and member experience.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor sales managers and MLOs, focusing on building high-performing teams capable of meeting and exceeding targets.
- Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes that may impact mortgage sales strategies.
- Innovation Leadership: Drive the adoption of new technologies and sales techniques to keep the Credit Union at the forefront of mortgage lending.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all sales activities adhere to regulatory requirements and Credit Union policies, maintaining a balance between sales growth and risk management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in mortgage lending, with at least 5 years in a sales leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully growing mortgage sales teams and expanding market presence.
- In-depth understanding of mortgage regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience in developing and nurturing community partnerships and business relationships.
- Strong understanding of financial and operational metrics in the mortgage industry.
- Active Mortgage Loan Originator license required.
- Certifications such as Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) are a plus.
