JOB SUMMARY
Provides relationship-based coaching and technical assistance through consultation to early learning educators and programs. Coordinates, implements, and evaluates the Inclusive Partners Program (IP) in Multnomah County. Conducts coaching and technical assistance with early learning programs to support quality, inclusive care and environments. Consults with families and providers, and provides professional development opportunities for early learning professionals.
Essential Duties
- Coordinates a variety of projects in partnership with state and local agencies driven by laws, regulations, and other mandates. Supports continuous quality improvement in practice with a focus on project goals, standards, and early childhood inclusive practices.
- Coordinates with IP staff and CCR&R team to coordinate and implement inclusive practices throughout the region.
- Coordinates and delivers training, consultation, and technical assistance to early learning educators to support quality inclusive child care.
- Develops and conducts child care provider trainings based on the Oregon Registry’s Core Knowledge categories and common provider needs.
- Manages and reports project data.
- Conducts community trainings and presentations around the pyramid model and inclusive practices. Partners at a local level to provide training and access to information for non-publicly funded programs. Works with local agencies to utilize developed frameworks and expand services.
- Establishes collaborative relationships with early education programs and a range of educators to develop the most conducive environment for learning and coaching. Provides in person and virtual individual support including material review and feedback, connection to resources, on-going guidance, and check-in with child care providers.
- Coordinate and support networking events for educators.
- Participates in coaches’ community of practice and ongoing coaching professional development.
Additional Duties
- Participates as a team member in Child Care Resource and Referral staff meetings.
- Attends training sessions and participates in training opportunities.
- Maintains records and/or activity logs.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor degree in early childhood education, human development, child and family studies, social work, sociology, psychology or related field; OR a Step 10 on the Oregon Registry and coursework in age three to five development; OR Associates degree WITH the ability to obtain a bachelor degree in early childhood education, human development, child and family studies, social work, sociology, psychology or related field within four (4) years of hire
Experience/Training:
- Minimum (5) years of experience teaching in, coordinating, or coaching in an early childhood program with a focus on preschool, including at least two (2) years of experience as an instructor and/or trainer of adults
- Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the College’s community, students and employees; demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity.
- Current driver’s license, insurance, and access to a reliable automobile during work hours. Must have at least three (3) years of driving history
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual skills: oral and written fluency in English with fluency also in Spanish, Russian or another language that meets community/department’s needs
Additional
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Oregon Registry Master Trainer Certification within one (1) year of hire
- Must be able to travel throughout the county and to other required opportunities, including overnight and/or on weekends on occasion and with ample notice
- Must be able to enroll in the Oregon Central Background Registry prior to beginning employment and enrollment must be maintained throughout employment
- Must complete required Oregon Department - Education Early Learning Division Self-Study Trainings within 30 days of hire

- Experience supporting others in making accommodations for children in a variety of settings.
- Strong knowledge of theories and practices of Early Childhood Education, Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education, Human Services, and/or Human Development.
- Ability to facilitate the implementation of teaching practice and program improvement goals.
- Experience in design and delivery of training to adult learners virtually and/or in-person.
- Experience conduction observations and providing feedback and facilitating reflection.
- Ability to pay close attention to details.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of child development and/or early childhood best practices.
- Knowledge of or ability to establish working relationships.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing deadlines.
Working Conditions and Important Information
Working Conditions
Works assigned schedule, and exhibits regular and predictable attendance. As necessary to meet workload demands, works outside of typical schedule, including evening/weekend hours. Work requires some travel to off-campus locations. Work is sometimes performed in an emotional and stressful environment. This position is hybrid and will work both remotely and in-person to meet program needs.
Salary:
Initial salary placement will be based on years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Handbook or Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
