SUMMARY:
The Director of System Solutions and Development is responsible for leading and managing a team dedicated to to the design, development, and enhancement of system solutions that support the credit union’s operations. In the people manager role, the Director provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. This position is key to driving the credit union’s technology strategy and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative, and secure technology systems to improve operational efficiency, member service, and business growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of IT professionals in designing, developing, and implementing technology solutions that support the credit union's long term strategic goals.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.
- Ensure the successful integration of new technologies, including fintech solutions, online banking systems, mobile apps, and data analytics tools.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage multiple technology development projects from inception to delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, to gather requirements and define system specifications.
- Negotiate contracts, manage third-party vendor performance, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Oversee ongoing system maintenance and upgrades to ensure technology platforms are reliable, secure, and scalable.
- Implement disaster recovery plans and ensure system uptime, data integrity, and security protocols are maintained.
- Lead efforts to implement robust security measures to protect member data and maintain compliance with industry standards.
- Generate and deliver regular reports to senior leadership on the performance, efficiency, and development progress of technology solutions.
- Analyze system performance and implement optimizations to improve overall service quality.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, including professional development and training opportunities on the latest technologies, tools, and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Ability):
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred. Alternatively, a combination of relevant education and equivelant experience will also be acceptable.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT or system development, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in system development, integration, and project management.
- In-depth knowledge of IT security principles, data privacy laws, and regulatory requirements - preferably in the financial industry but not required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with other departments.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
- Proficiency in software development languages (e.g., Java, .NET, Python, SQL) and web technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript).
- Knowledge of databases, system architecture, and cloud services.
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices and regulatory compliance standards for financial institutions.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and solutions.
- Strong experience in banking or financial services technology , with an understanding of core banking systems, digital banking platforms, and financial software ,preferred .
- Familiarity with NCUA regulations and credit union-specific IT challenges – Preferred not Required.

Use of computer workstations at desk height and use of server consoles while standing. Installation, removal or termination of cabling, in communications closets and office settings. Occasional use of ladder to reach cables or hardware in ceilings or near top of computer hardware racks. Installation or removal of computer hardware into server racks.
