Job Summary
Performs basic maintenance and repairs to machine shop equipment, prepares student assignments, helps set up demonstrations, and assists instructors in an applied technology lab or classroom. Works in one or more of the following areas: welding, mechatronics, engineering, or machine tool technology
Essential Duties
- Operates a variety of lab equipment, hardware, software and other technologies.
- Monitors and maintains shop equipment relative to the applied technology lab environment.
- Operates band saws, presses, welders, lathes, mills, and any other equipment as necessary.
- Performs shop repairs or improvements as requested or needed.
- Practices shop safety, organizes, cleans, and disinfects surfaces.
- Assists instructor to set up demonstrations.
- Operates Hyster forklift.
- Reviews course-specific instructional materials as provided by students and instructors.
- Provides routine clerical support related to shop maintenance and repair; ordering supplies/equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One (1) year of college level coursework in welding, mechatronics, engineering, or machine tool technology OR industry recognized certificates
- One (1) year work experience in welding, mechatronics, engineering, or machine tool technology
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety
- Experience and/or education in welding, mechatronics, engineering, or machine tool technology
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed primarily in Applied Technology classrooms and labs with hazards and demands typical to a manufacturing industry.
