SUMMARY:
The Data Engineer will assist in building, managing, and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring the smooth and secure movement of data across multiple platforms. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and senior engineers to help manage data infrastructure and support data-driven decision-making for OnPoint’s data program. This includes migrating from an on-prem data warehouse to Azure and modernizing analytics capabilities using Power BI and Databricks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience in coding languages like Python, Scala, Java, and SQL.
- Supports project teams and operations in extraction, transformation and loading of data into Data Warehouse.
- Drive requirements, scope, and technical design of the integration workflows, to make sure the build is conducted accurately and according to specifications.
- Develop and maintain requirements, design documentation and test plans.
- Seek out, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from a wide variety of data sources using Microsoft Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and SSIS.
- Experience using SQL, data modeling, large datasets, data warehousing, data analysis, analytics engines.
- Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) systems and tools, such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
- Creating and maintaining the Data Platform analytics technical components. This includes relational data modelling, star schemas, reporting views and ETL batch feeds.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Ability):
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience and education).
- Experience with Azure, DNA Core, Azure Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, Databricks are a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Medallion Architecture principles for building robust, scalable data solutions in cloud environments, including bronze, silver, and gold layer data management.
- Experience with data replication technologies, such as Fivetran/HVR, database mirroring, and transactional replication, ensuring seamless data synchronization across environments and maintaining data consistency in real-time.

Occasional use of ladder to reach cables or hardware in ceilings or near top of computer hardware racks. Installation or removal of computer hardware into server racks.
