The City of Portland's Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry Division is seeking a forward-thinking City and Private Property Tree Planting Supervisor to lead our ambitious initiative to double the number of urban trees planted throughout Portland. With the goal of coordinating the planting of 10,000 trees annually, this role is vital in enhancing our urban forest and promoting tree canopy equity across the city.
As the Supervisor, you will work closely with city staff and private property owners to develop and manage our tree planting programs, focusing on large, native, and evergreen species. Your leadership will help improve the health of Portland's street tree population, particularly in underserved communities.
What You’ll Get to Do:
- Champion equity and environmental justice by increasing access to tree planting services and promoting workforce diversity.
- Manage urban tree planting initiatives on private properties, schoolyards, and city-owned land.
- Oversee technical operations, ensuring fieldwork and data collection align with program goals.
- Guide your team through project development stages, ensuring that community needs are at the forefront of decision-making.
