We are seeking a dynamic and motivated person to join our team as a Community Affairs Coordinator. Working closely with the Community Affairs Manager for Public Affairs, you will play a pivotal part in delivering high capacity transit, serving as a central point of public contact, acting as a liaison between project staff and the communities TV Highway community will serve.
This is a limited term position that will end on 06/30/2026.
This role requires being onsite three (3) days per week.
Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. Essential Functions
- Coordinate interactions between project staff, jurisdictional partners and external stakeholders regarding project design, right of way acquisition, construction impacts, service changes, and safety issues. Distill and share key information between project staff and the public, verbally, visually and in writing.
- Coordinate with project staff, construction contractor and external stakeholders to develop and implement proactive strategies to resolve conflicts and minimize construction impacts.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with project staff and community members, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, seniors, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations.
- Within a defined project area, serve as first point of contact for project information, questions and complaints. Resolve urgent problems affecting project neighbors on a 24-hour on-call basis.
- Serve as a TriMet spokesperson. Staff community meetings, make presentations to community groups and lead tours.
- Read and interpret technical information related to land use and transportation planning, engineering, architecture and other disciplines.
- Maintain records of contacts and issues.
Position Requirements
A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, with a bachelor's degree in public administration, communications, planning or a related field being preferred.
Two (2) years of total credited experience.*
Two (2) years of experience with community engagement are required.
Two (2) years of experience with transit and/or planning, design and construction of public infrastructure projects are preferred.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range
Minimum: $70,311.00
Maximum: $105,465.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
