Description
The Digital Solutions Department is seeking an Information Technology Systems Administrator. This position manages and maintains Clean Water Services (CWS) information technology infrastructure, including data and voice communication hardware, servers, data storage systems, personal computers, operating systems, and systems software.

Essential Functions:
(The essential functions listed below are not intended to reflect all duties that may be assigned to this classification.  CWS may augment duties and/or essential functions at its discretion.  Additionally, some incumbents may not perform all Essential Functions.)

  1. Analyzes processes, applications, and user requirements to define needs. Participates in designing systems or procedures to implement solutions and required upgrades or replacement of current hardware.
  2. Plans and implements CWS’ Information Technology (IT) infrastructure needs, resources, and system performance improvements. Collaborates with staff to ensure cross-functional systems and projects are properly integrated and communicated.
  3. Performs research and review of system capabilities and limitations. Makes recommendations and documents operational procedures, performs system maintenance, conducts testing, and provides training and technical guidance in the use of new or modified systems and procedures.
  4. Installs, configures, and optimizes server hardware and software and server operations. Troubleshoots server and end-user equipment and maintains operational integrity of all infrastructure systems. 
  5. Installs, coordinates, administers, updates, upgrades, and monitors CWS’ data and voice servers, workstations, and various systems such as data storage, virtualization platforms, software, and infrastructure in the Cloud (SaaS & PaaS). Maintains and improves system performance and space requirements. 
  6. Maintains data integrity by conducting regular backups, archiving, and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  7. Performs security and patch management for servers, desktops, and appliances, password expiration, and protection of computer resources. 
  8. Maintains automation scripts and ensures automated processes are running efficiently. 
  9. Develops and maintains clear, easy-to-understand documentation for systems, processes, and end-user training. 
  10. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information, files, and records.
  11. Maintains a positive, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture to improve the understanding and recognition of diversity and foster multidisciplinary and integrated team approaches.
  12. Drives a CWS or personal vehicle for work-related purposes. 
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE OF: 
  • Advanced operating systems, networking principles, hardware and software tools, and configuration
  • Advanced personal computer hardware, software installation, and operating systems
  • Data center operating concepts, including security, workflow, and services
  • Computer scripting principles and techniques  
  • Data communications
  • Systems analysis and design techniques
SKILL IN:
  • Performing complex troubleshooting
  • Maintaining and configuring servers, data storage systems, and workstations
  • Evaluating hardware and software applications
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting technological platforms, systems, and networks
  • Advanced use of computers and applicable software applications
  • Performing advanced systems administration tasks
  • Communicating technical information and technology concepts to an audience with limited technical knowledge

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. 

5 years of experience in network hardware, data storage systems, servers, software administration, operating system software maintenance and administration; 

College-level coursework or specialized training in computer science, programming, networking, or a related field.

CompTIA A+, Microsoft MS-102, AZ-800, MCSE, or equivalent certification preferred. 

OR 

3 years of experience in network hardware, data storage systems, servers, software administration, operating system software maintenance and administration;  

Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, business information systems, or a related field. 

CompTIA A+, Microsoft MS-102, AZ-800, MCSE or equivalent certification preferred.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license.
