Washington County Community Corrections is now searching for a highly supportive individual to join our team as Probation and Parole Services (PPS) Supervisor. This position is part of the Department's Operations team, working with certified Probation and Parole Officers to maintain fidelity to the Department's practice model.

About the Department
Washington County Community Corrections serves an important role in keeping our community safe. The department works to prevent the recurrence of crime among adult Justice Involved Individuals (JIIs) by holding them accountable to the conditions of their supervision while supporting their efforts to live successfully in the community. Community Corrections supervises approximately 2,800 individuals using a range of evidence-based strategies while working in partnership with the Courts, law enforcement, and the Oregon State Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision.

The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate possesses direct experience working in Probation and Parole and knowledge of the criminal justice system in Oregon, including principles of evidence base practices for community corrections. They have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate effective leadership and coaching skills, and are experienced in project management and strategic planning. Community Corrections is eager and committed to hiring individuals that reflect the many diverse communities of Washington County, which will strengthen and bring improvements to the way we serve the community. A successful candidate must possess lived and/or professional experiences working with diverse individuals. Although not required, bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND 7 years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience; OR

  • An Associate's degree in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field; AND 5 years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience; OR

  • A Bachelor's Degree in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field; AND 3 years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of the Spanish language including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in Spanish, both orally and in writing.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.

  • Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.

  • Must acquire and maintain CPR and first aid certification.

  • Must have a current certification as a Probation Officer from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST); or obtain certification within 12 months of hire.

  • Must be a US citizen or become a US citizen within 12 months of hire.

  • Must pass a post-offer physical capacities assessment, psychological assessment, and the DPSST pre-employment medical exam prior toappointment.
