The Role:

This senior accounting analyst position is a new role focused on Regulatory and FERC accounting and reporting. The position plays a key role in supporting rate case filings, FERC reporting and application of FERC accounting to the Company’s activities. Generally, the responsibilities include report and data request preparation and analysis, technical accounting research and traditional accounting responsibilities such as journal entries and reconciliations.

Day to Day:

Regulatory reporting responsibilities include:

  • Support state regulatory filings and strategies in conjunction with leadership, including preparation and coordination of accounting information for rate case filings and data requests
  • Coordinate the preparation of the annual FERC Form 2 filings and other various regulatory filings for state utility commissions

FERC accounting and reporting responsibilities include:

  • Research and document accounting issues utilizing FERC accounting guidance along with GAAP guidance applied to accounting for regulated industries and document FERC to GAAP differences
  • Assist in implementing new regulatory accounting guidance in day-to-day activities
  • Review and approve new general ledger account mapping to FERC accounts
  • Facilitates creation and maintenance of SAP reports to enhance regulated accounting compliance
  • Identify and implement process improvements

General accounting tasks include:

  • Participates in monthly accounting activities including recording journal entries, preparing account reconciliations and performing SOX controls to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Provides support for both internal and external audits
  • Contributes to the team environment and performs other duties as assigned to support the department
  • Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices

Come on your first day with:

  • BA degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years accounting, preferably in the utility or a regulated industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to understand complex financial and regulatory concepts and recognize interrelationships.
  • Experience in operationalizing changes resulting from new accounting guidance.
  • Must combine thorough attention to detail with the ability to envision the big picture.
  • Excellent writing ability and experience communicating technical information in a succinct manner, including analysis and task documentation.
  • Experience collaborating effectively in a team environment and ability to act as a technical resource.
  • Proficient oral skills, capable of presenting to a variety of audiences.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines which include time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading and coordinating projects across functions.
  • Advanced skills for spreadsheet applications and word processing.
  • Experience with SAP software is preferred.
  • Outstanding ethical standards consistent with company policies, procedures and practices, etc.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate peak periods.

Base salary range: $96,000.00 - $136,800.00 per year, depending on qualifications

Annual Target Incentive: Level 3, 9.5% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% – 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
