At a Glance! The Assistant Director of Advising & One-Stop provides leadership to a diverse One-Stop Center team and promotes a culturally responsive and student-centered environment. The Advising and One-Stop teams are dedicated to providing seamless, student-centered support through a Coordinated Care approach that promotes equitable access to resources and services for all students.
This role oversees the integration of essential student services and works to ensure that students have equitable and seamless access to campus resources. The position requires close collaboration and strong relationships across the college, and partnering with faculty, staff, and other support services to maintain service alignment and promote a cohesive student experience.
Additionally, the Assistant Director works closely with the Director and advising staff to support academic advising efforts under the Coordinated Care model. The Assistant Director also assists the Director in promoting a unified advising approach, ensuring that students receive consistent, high-quality advising support. In the Director’s absence, the Assistant Director provides leadership to the Advising team to maintain continuity in student support.
We are looking for an energetic and innovative individual with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. This person must be student-centered, believe in our college’s mission, and demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion. The Assistant Director of Advising & One-Stop should be organized, highly collaborative, and able to promote a culture of student success.
The Assistant Director of Advising & One-Stop position is 40 hours per week. The typical schedule is 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This position provides direct student support and is primarily an on-site position, with limited ability to work remote/hybrid. This position reports to the Director of Advising, One-Stop, and Testing.
We typically hire closer to the lower to middle range of the salary. Offers are made based on applicant’s qualifications relative to the job, internal pay equity, and any other relevant factors. This position is exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime if hired under the FLSA salary threshold. The Assistant Director of Advising & One-Stop will receive a 5% assignment pay premium in addition to the posted salary range.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a diverse One-Stop Center team to promote a culturally responsive and student-centered environment that supports the college’s mission, objectives, and service standards; oversee the implementation of strategies that integrate various student services into the One-Stop model, ensuring seamless access to resources and supports for students from diverse backgrounds, including racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and varying physical and learning abilities
- Support the director in coordinating academic advising efforts under the Coordinated Care model, including monitoring and assessing advising effectiveness, aligning advising services with departmental and institutional goals, hiring and training new advising staff, assisting advisors with resolving student issues, and facilitating collaboration with faculty and staff to ensure cohesive and comprehensive advising services across the college
- Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure that One-Stop specialists are well-informed about college services, policies, and campus updates; organize regular meetings and training sessions to equip specialists with the latest information, enabling them to provide seamless services and make accurate referrals for students; ensure strong alignment across Advising & One-Stop teams to ensure a seamless onboarding and advising experience for students
- Support the director and advising team in maintaining academic planning templates and advisor assignments, coordinating the case management processes, and serving as a backup advisorAnalyze One-Stop and Advising data to identify resource demands and/or service gaps, and strategically allocate resources and staffing to ensure equitable access to services and resources; evaluate retention and student success data, and support the director and advisors in retention efforts
- Manage a caseload of at-risk students, conducting proactive outreach to connect them with academic, financial, and personal support resources; regularly monitor their progress, provide ongoing guidance to address barriers to success, and collaborate with faculty and support services to ensure a comprehensive approach to student retention
- Work with the director to coordinate a comprehensive and strategic student and advisor communication plan, that includes a timeline, targeted outcomes, and contains consistent messaging with the goal of building a more coordinated approach to advising and retention student outreach
- Provide additional support to the One-Stop team during high demand times and as needed, by meeting with students and providing One-Stop services
- Provide leadership to the Advising team in the absence of the Director of Advising, One-Stop, and Testing
- Hire, train, schedule, and provide day-to-day supervision to student employees and ambassadors
- Assist the director with developing and updating Advising & One-Stop training materials, and webpages, and continuously improving the Advising Hub
- Manage One-Stop and Advising inventory of supplies and order new supplies as needed
- Promote and enhance a data-informed practice under a continuous improvement model
- Use an equity framework for assessment, evaluation, recommendations and processes
- Regularly integrate learning from professional development
- Participate in meetings and committees as requested and assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social sciences, or related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum two years of progressive responsibility at an institution of higher education.

Demonstrate cultural competence, including awareness and understanding of historically underrepresented populations, to create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Commitment to service-oriented leadership, a proactive and positive attitude, and a student-first mentality.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Student Development or similar area from an accredited institution.
