Salary: $4,207 - $6,420 (Per month)

 

 

The role: 

We are recruiting for a Region 2 Striping coordinator! This position plays a pivotal part in the daily operations of the Salem striping crew. In this role, you will make sure maintenance activities are planned, prioritized, performed and completed in an efficient and safe manner. You will work closely with the maintenance manager to ensure the crew has what they need to be successful and provide feedback on employee performance. In addition to working alongside the maintenance crew in the field, you will also work in the office to make sure bills are paid, order supplies and ensure equipment maintenance is performed. A day in the life:

  • Plan, prioritize, schedule and assign work activities based on availability of material, equipment and staff resources.
  • Provide guidance to employees to resolve work related issues and performance.
  • Read, interpret and oversee plans, specifications and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Help the transportation maintenance manager create short- and long-term plans for crews.
  • Field and react appropriately to concerns brought up by the general public.
  • Pay, code and track bills for crew and facilities.
  • Work with other state, county and city agencies for planning and coordinating jobs.
  • Review, prepare and sign a variety of reports, performance measures and records.
  • Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment depending on the project.
  • May need to move around rough terrain, on uneven slopes and may need to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • May need to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on call and weather related purposes.

Minimum qualifications:

Three years of maintenance or construction experience in roadway, highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge, or landscape.

 

Special qualifications:

  • This position requires a maximum 45 minute response time to 2775 25th Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97302 for emergency call-outs.
  • Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with a tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire a class A commercial learner permit within 60 days of hire and a CDL-A with a tanker endorsement and restrictions removed within six months of hire (ODOT will cover training costs) to be considered eligible for this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.

  • A current, valid commercial driver’s license A (CDL-A) with tanker endorsement or a CDL permit is preferred.  
  • Demonstrated experience in striping or highway maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience safely maintaining effectiveness in varying environments with changing priorities and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with, guiding and or leading others to a common goal.
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency or incident management.
