Position Title: External Organizer
Department: Organizing
Supervisor’s Title: Deputy Director of Organizing
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Oregon (ONA’s office is in Tualatin, Oregon. We represent and organize workers across the state.)

Hours and travel: ONA works with healthcare workers who work across the state in 24/7 facilities. By the nature of this work, there are times where travel, working nights, and overnight stays are required.

JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an organizer to join our team and use best practices and strategy to guide healthcare workers to advocate for themselves, their patients, their families, and our communities. As an ONA organizer, you will identify and develop leaders and support unorganized healthcare workers to form their union. You may also work on internal campaigns map units, identify and develop union leaders to increase healthcare worker power.

The new Organizer will join our Organizing Team and our Deputy Director of Organizing. Our supportive and collaborative team is inclusive and representative of and committed to racial and LGBTQ+ equity. Our team meets regularly, and each organizer meets with our Lead and Director to strategize and strengthen our work. We assist with one another’s campaigns, and we each work with a coach for professional growth and continued development.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience as a union organizer, community or political organizer, or labor union representative is required. People with professional experience in the health care sector, including RNs, are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a full time, exempt position. The salary is based on applicable years of experience applied to the wage scale outlined in the union staff ’s collective bargaining agreement.

ONA offers an annual starting salary range for this position of $77,998.71 to $112,495.81 depending on experience.

ONA also offers an exceptional benefits package including employer contributions (90%) to medical, dental and vision premiums, as well as employer paid long and short-term disability and life insurance. Opportunity to enroll in 401K plan after 6 months of employment which includes a 3% employer contribution, with additional longevity contributions after 5 years. Union members are also enrolled in a union pension plan. Annual PTO is 25 vacation days, 8 personal days and 12 sick leave days.
