We're seeking reliable, enthusiastic, people-person's to provide exceptional customer service as they sell tickets for various events at the Portland'5 Centers for the Arts in downtown Portland. We currently have multiple part-time positions available. With a variety of shift hours from weekday, day hours to event shifts 3-4 hours long in the evening and on weekends. The hours will fluctuate depending on event shifts available and the time of the year.

As the Ticket Seller you will:

  • Sell tickets on Paciolan, Arts People, and possibly other computer systems and hard and roll tickets.
  • Provide over-the-counter, e-mail, and telephone customer service to patrons; including requests for gift certificates, seating requests for wheelchair accessibility and other special seating needs.
  • Process and pull the will-calls, mail orders and maintain filing.
  • Update event information books and brochure rack on a daily basis.
  • Transfer computer event maps onto seller seating charts via color code and section numbers.
  • Write and authorize VISA and MasterCard transactions.
  • Work the "Will Call" window during events.
  • Balance sales at the end of the shift.
  • Update other facility event information.
  • Maintain the work area by keeping it clean and orderly.
  • Assist others in this position who have less knowledge.

  • Capability to read and comprehend information on tickets to relay information as needed.
  • Ability tolerate inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

TO QUALIFY
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific in your application materials on how your background is relevant.

Minimum qualifications:
  • High school level math and spelling skills; AND
  • One year experience handling money; AND
  • One year working directly with the general public in a high volume situation; AND
  • One year experience computer/typing; OR
  • We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Must be available to work a variety of hours; including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The schedule worked will primarily be 3-4 hours in the evening (starting time near 5:15 p.m.), and on weekends, usually not more than one or two shifts per week.

Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience.

  • Previous ticket selling experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Paciolan

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND REPRESENTATION
The salary range for this position is $21.67 an hour.
