JOB TITLE: Optician

SUPERVISOR: Branch Manager - Downtown

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs/Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Ophthalmology

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Operate and oversee the optical store on all levels which includes assisting patients in selecting, ordering, and/or repairing frames and lenses and creating and finishing frames and lenses. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
1.    Open and close the optical store daily (serves as key holder).* 
2.    Assess inventory and purchase all frames and miscellaneous stock as needed for lab and dispensary using proper ordering procedure.* 
3.    Greet an average of 15-20 patients/customers a day in a friendly and professional manner. Answer phone in optical store. Help Ophthalmology patients when needed. * 
4.    Set up and maintain all office and lab equipment.* 
5.    Serve as a point of collection. Submit charges and collect payments per system guidelines. * 
6.    Conduct general quality control assessment of Rxs, lenses, frames, and equipment.* 
7.    Meet with frame sales representatives.* 
8.    Recommend frame and lenses for a patient and discuss options including new products.* 
9.    Write and send job order for frames and lenses to the lab.* 
10.    Perform the fitting, adjustment, and repair of glasses. * 
11.    Cut and mount lenses (rimless, zyl, metal). *
12.    Confirm prescriptions.* 
13.    Contact patients when glasses are available for pick-up.* 
14.    Conduct required inventory checks.* 
15.    Work respectfully and collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.* 
16.    Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home 
17.    Maintain displays.

REQUIREMENTS:
?    High School Diploma/GED 

PREFERENCES:
?    Optician ABO Certified

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
?    Must demonstrate knowledge of quality assurance guidelines 
?    Knowledge of ANSI Standards 
?    Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
?    Demonstrated ability to work in stressful multi-tasked work environment 
?    Computer experience preferred 
?    Successful experience in high-volume customer service setting preferred
