Primary Purpose:

The Annual Giving Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive annual giving program that incorporates cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts. The Annual Giving Manager will work closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and the Philanthropic Services Department Directors to develop and maximize strategies to build and strengthen the donor pipeline through acquisition, retention, upgrading and stewardship. The position is responsible for data-driven strategy and detailed processes.

OCF employees are currently expected to work a minimum of three days in the office. During the initial training period, this position may work more frequently in the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Program Management - Percentage of Time: 75%
  • Creates and maintains systems to drive the planning, implementation, and management of fundraising campaigns and other strategic appeals to meet targeted revenue goals.
  • In coordination with OCF's Marketing and Communications Department:
  1. Manages planning and production of stewardship plan and materials for donors, including mass communications and distinct content such as impact reports and stewardship pieces.
  2. Manages, implements, and refines fundraising appeals, such as the OCF Leadership Fund, including digital and direct mail, and additional outreach strategies.
  3. Manages and implements targeted communications and solicitations for lapsed donors to improve retention.
  4. Researches, develops, and drafts content for Leadership Fund campaign and other campaign appeals.
  • Manages annual giving calendar and deadlines and collaborates across the organization for successful outcomes.
  • Works closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Philanthropic Services Department (PSD) Directors to develop and maximize strategies to build and strengthen the donor pipeline.
  • Working with Director of Philanthropy and Philanthropic Services Business Analyst, identifies pooled fund donors for discovery and cultivation.
  • Works with internal stakeholders (philanthropic advisors, donor relations officers, program officers, Research and Learning staff, and Marketing and Communications Team) to:
  1. Gather content and ideas to be included in campaign materials and for engagement opportunities with donors.
  2. Create stewardship materials such as anniversary and impact reports.

  1. Data - Percentage of Time: 15%
  • Creates and tracks campaigns and appeal codes for solicitations and communications.
  • Reviews and manipulates mail lists to ensure accuracy in data, segmentation, and customization.
  • Creates dashboards for campaign, appeal and project analysis and reporting.

  1. Other - Percentage of Time: 10%
  • Monitors and triages email responses from appeals.
  • Tracks expenses for annual giving activities.
  • Proofs correspondence, other annual-giving projects as necessary.
  • Oversees other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Five years' annual giving, stewardship, donor relations, membership, or development-related experience. Program management experience preferred.
  • Relevant bachelor's-level education credentials, such as a degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or another related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education in lieu of a degree.
  • Project and administrative management experience preferred.

Required Professional Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of annual giving, direct mail, campaigns, major gifts, planned gifts, and nonprofit best practices.
  • Ability to think strategically as well as attend to day-to-day operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with many different constituencies, particularly donors and donor prospects. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Skilled at facilitating collaborative work teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, conflict resolution, and relationship building skills to deliver high quality services to a range of constituents and to work effectively and collaboratively with others to achieve effective outcomes. Ability to clearly communicate expectations and decisions, demonstrating good judgment and sensitivity.
  • Engaging presenter, persuasive, with ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to drive strategy.
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity, proactively identifying or initiating ways to enhance a process, procedure or outcome that benefits OCF.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, integrated databases and project management software.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills '” detail-oriented, accurate, strong proofreader.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks efficiently, ability to meet multiple deadlines and ability to quickly shift priorities and adapt to change.
  • Cultural agility skills necessary to work effectively with diverse people, teams and communities.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: This job is typically performed under very comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of the job. Job duties are performed in an office setting or indoor meeting rooms. Requires some prolonged periods using computer and monitor and may require prolonged sitting or standing. Requires lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, bending, reaching, manipulating, and stretching. Infrequent lifting up to 25 lbs. and bending are required.

Safety: Support a safe work environment by performing work duties safely and according to procedures. This includes reporting all injuries, illnesses, or accidents sustained while working to your immediate supervisor as soon as possible after the occurrence or within 24 hours of the injury, illness, or accident, and reporting any accident involving OCF vehicles, equipment, or other property, regardless of the nature of the accident, to your immediate supervisor as soon as possible after the accident.


Attendance Requirements: Regular punctuality and attendance are required. Requires ability to work outside of normal business hours during peak periods as needed.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a regular, exempt, full-time position. The hiring range for this position is $68,000 to $83,000, DOE. Salary offers are determined in conjunction with an internal pay equity assessment.
