OPB is seeking a Media Ops Post Editor to join our Media Operations team at our Portland headquarters. This role plays an important part in supporting OPB’s mission by helping preserve, restore, and prepare video content for today’s digital platforms while supporting active productions across the organization.

The Media Ops Post Editor focuses on archive restoration work, including light color correction, audio sweetening, artifact cleanup, and creation of new masters from legacy and digital source material. In addition, this role supports current productions by creating credits, branding adjustments, mastering deliverables, performing quality control, and assisting with other editorial needs across OPB’s content teams.

We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, technically curious, and excited to contribute to public media. Experience with non-linear editing systems (especially Adobe Premiere Pro), media file management, and shared storage environments is important, along with a collaborative approach and enthusiasm for OPB’s mission.

Position Summary

The Media Ops Post Editor is responsible for a variety of video post production needs in an operations-focused capacity. The position will concentrate on fulfilling archive restoration work to adhere to current formats, quality, and branding. In addition, the role will aid in the completion of active productions across multiple OPB content teams by creating credits, branding adjustments, and other content agnostic editorial functions. This position plays a crucial role in contributing to the organization’s overall mission by providing efficiencies in building a robust digital presence that strengthens our storytelling on all platforms.

Responsibilities

30% Archive Restoration

  • The clean up of digitized masters in our archive, which could include light color correction, light audio sweetening, and correcting artifacts as needed. Create masters, sourcing from finished projects in the archive. The source material could be digitized from tape, born digital projects in older NLE environments such as Avid. New masters of these titles will be output as well.

20% Testing and Troubleshooting

  • Tests and troubleshoots issues and tickets in support of the MAM and editorial processes. Will work closely with the MAM support team.

20% Credit Creation

  • Credit creation and other basic graphics needs (eg; templates, bug adjustments, marketing driven brand adjustments, etc).

10% Mastering

  • Master outputs and coordination of deliverable output for new active titles or legacy titles that have not had masters created.

10% Quality Control

  • Quality Control (QC) of active productions.

10% Adhoc

  • Ad hoc non-content team editorial needs (eg; possible promo edit, campaign video edit, etc)

 

 Working Conditions

  • Work environment: Onsite, and indoors located at OPB HQ.
  • Schedule: This position typically works Monday – Friday, though some weekend/evening work is possible.
  • Physical demands: Most of this work is done in front of a computer in an office setting.
  • Travel: None.
  • Driving: Not required.

 

Required Education & Experience

  • 1 year equivalent full-time professional experience required
  • Degree in Production, Media, or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position

 

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with a Non-Linear Editing system, preferably Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Technical knowledge of general media file types and shared storage pools
  • Ability to take on tasks and see through completion 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of OPB
  • Ability to work in Mac or Windows environment, and experience working within Excel and Word.

 

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (specifically After Effects and Photoshop)
  • Experience working in Avid or Final Cut
  • Working knowledge of transcode concepts and software (Media Encoder, Vantage, Rhozet)
