Salary: $75,000-$82,0000

Hours: Full-time, Exempt, 40 hours, Monday – Friday with occasional weekend or evening events.

Building Blocks 2 Success (BB2S) is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering K-12 youth by providing pathways in Robotics, Construction and Design, Semiconductors, and Medical/Healthcare fields. Our mission is to inspire and prepare underrepresented students for careers in STEM while fostering equitable access to opportunities.

Job Summary
The Operations Manager ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of BB2S's internal operations to support its mission. This role involves managing organizational processes, managing resources, and implementing systems that enhance operational effectiveness. Some areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, human resources (HR), payroll, tracking budget/expenses, facilities, and asset management. The Operations Manager is a key management team member and reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Finance:
• Provide office leadership and work effectively with external vendors, partners, and consultants.
• In collaboration with the Program Director, utilize PM to ensure timeline delivery of projects, accurate budgeting, and on track deadlines.
• Develop and implement operational procedures and systems such as employee safety training.
• Work with bookkeeper to ensure accurate AR/AP providing necessary documentation and verifying expenses
• Train staff in administrative procedures including payroll, credit card use, and expense policy.
• Maintain the CRM database to capture, understand, and leverage relevant data.
Human Resources
• Manage and ensure a timely run of payroll as well as prepare final paychecks as needed.
• Serve as first point of contact for employee onboarding and HR-related questions, including benefits, policies, and employee relations.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Program Director to:
- Provide employee training and development opportunities
- Verify staff timecards and payroll
- Administer compensation program
• Develop, update and manage policies and procedures while ensuring BB2S compliance with relevant employment laws in collaboration with external HR resources.
• Maintain employee personnel and administrative documents and files.
• Provide hiring support for future BB2S opportunities.
Facilities, Assets & Technology:
• Maintain:
- Office space, including utilities, security, employee parking, repairs, and maintenance contractors, liaising with property owners as needed.
- Asset management system, including checking out equipment to site contacts and tracking inventory.
• Partner with IT vendors to ensure network security, software implementation, hardware and data systems, and technical or help desk support.
• Ensure team members have the necessary equipment and up-to-date hardware and software to perform their jobs.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in operations, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
• 3+ years of experience in working with nonprofit budgets, expense tracking, and familiarity with QuickBooks.
• Demonstrated experience in Human Resources, payroll, and employee management.
• Proven and demonstrated success in leadership, organizational management, and project management.
• Experience and/or familiarity with CRM software
• Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and database management systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Have valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation & auto insurance to travel citywide as needed to visit program sites.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
