Portland Parks & Recreation is excited to announce an opening for the Urban Forestry Education Coordinator! This vital role will engage and educate Portland residents about trees, the urban forest, and the essential services provided by Urban Forestry.
As the Urban Forestry Education Coordinator, you will lead the development and implementation of community education plans that inform the public about city requirements and the critical roles that community members and property owners play in managing urban forest infrastructure. You will supervise one position and oversee contracted services to ensure effective outreach.
What You'll Get to Do:
- Develop and implement comprehensive community education strategies and materials related to urban forestry.
- Create and maintain educational content, including web pages, to share information about tree regulations, benefits, and care resources with property owners and community members.
- Collaborate with City Public Relations to manage communications, including press releases and media inquiries.
- Supervise staff and coordinate with external contractors to enhance education efforts.
Who You Are: The ideal candidate will have experience leading community education initiatives, supervising staff, and overseeing contractors. A strong understanding of urban tree care and the ability to translate complex information into accessible content is essential. You should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
