Position Summary: The Director of Development (DOD) leads revenue development for All Hands Raised. The position provides strategy development and successful implementation of all fundraising, grant, and investor stewardship efforts that provide revenue for the organization to meet its mission of educational equity. All Hands Raised currently has a $ 1.3 million budget. Professional Readiness: All Hands Raised understands that there are many ways to determine professional readiness. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience, and leadership competencies, with a consideration of the applicant’s experience in meeting these criteria to be successful in this job.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Create and successfully implement an annual revenue development plan and work collaboratively with the Board and AHR staff to raise funds to support all facets of the organization. The revenue development plan needs to position AHR well to receive funding in an increasingly competitive environment for resources.
• Lead in all development areas, including the year-end appeal, annual event, sponsorships, grant management, major donor stewardship and cultivation, new revenue stream identification, and any other fundraising activities by providing vision, clarity, and planning.
• Manage donor relations by developing and implementing an annual donor relationship management plan for existing donors that supports new donor cultivation.
• Work closely with the CEO, other AHR staff, and the AHR Board on donor stewardship to activate the Board, staff, and community to support investments in the organization.
• Conduct grant prospect research to identify a list of potential sources of grant funding that are opportunities for the current and future fiscal years with a focus on those potential investors who fund equity-based programs.
• Collaborate with the CEO and the Vice President of Operations to create a revenue forecast to be used in developing the budget for the upcoming fiscal year coupled with providing monthly revenue forecast updates and information about grant management activities to ensure that accurate revenue information is reported to the Board.
• Lead the grant management function by overseeing grant application submissions and reports by collaborating closely with the CEO and the Finance and Impact and Improvement Teams to successfully submit grant applications and required grant reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to use information about AHR’s programmatic offerings that translate into equity-based grant narratives that align with donor intent. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
? Equity Filter: Proficiency in applying an equity lens to all revenue development strategies articulated in the annual revenue development plan either from a lived or learned experience.
? Revenue Development: Proven track record in meeting revenue development goals including effective collaboration with internal and external partners to support meeting these goals, demonstrated ability to provide strategic oversight for signature events, grant management proficiency, and ability to successfully manage allocated resources for development contained in the fiscal year budget.
? Project Management: Skilled in managing multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to stay organized, adapt to shifting demands, meet deadlines consistently, and ensure that the office management function is maximized for efficiency and productivity. Proficiency in delivering product with limited administrative support.
? Critical Thinking: Ability to be strategic and problem-solve issues that arise and be self-directed and goal-oriented and have an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising.
? Communications: Effective communicator, both written and spoken, with an ability to synthesize complex information and write about it in an accessible and compelling style using an equity filter.
? Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiencies in MS Office, Raisers Edge, and Google Workspace.
? Emotional Intelligence/Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively, internally and externally, across cultures, positions, and sectors with the highest degree of mutual respect and grace with others to build/maintain positive relationships both with staff and external partners. Demonstrates accountability and holds themselves responsible for their decisions.
? Non-profit Governance: Demonstrated understanding of non-profit functions including the role a Board plays in governance of the organization.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred or comparable professional experience will be considered.
• Five to eight years of a proven track record in revenue development, relationship management, and brand marketing including at least three years in a staff and/or board leadership role in education, nonprofit and/or related sectors.
• Minimum of five years experience in the following areas: 1) writing large-scale multi-year funding proposals and demonstrated ability in effectively managing grants and grantor relationships; 2) implementing donor solicitation and prospecting strategies; 3) coordinating fundraising events and meeting event fundraising goals; and 4) experience in successfully collaborating with staff and a Board of Directors to provide support in meeting revenue development goals.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
