The Professional Development Instructor will provide training and support to participants in the Abil-IT program. This role focuses on teaching essential workplace skills and professional development topics to prepare participants for Competitive Integrated Employment in IT positions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop professional development curriculum 30%
- Design and deliver course content for professional development topics tailored to the needs of neurodiverse participants.
- Ensure content is focused upon preparing participants to successfully transition from classroom/learning environment to the workplace
- Pilot program content prior to launch of program, revise based upon feedback from focus group/pilot participants; continue to improve content as program evolves
Conduct training sessions and workshops 50%
- Prepare learning plans
- Deliver and facilitate all in-person and virtual professional development training sessions; schedule guest facilitators as appropriate
- Seek feedback from participants and observers; adjust based upon feedback
- Provide individualized support and one-on-one coaching for participants to enhance their employability skills
- Collaborate with IT Instructor to integrate professional development with technical training program
- Continuously update and maintain training materials and resources
Assess participant progress 15%
- Evaluate participant progress
- Provide on-going feedback and guidance
Other duties as needed 5%
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of experience in professional development training; preferably with neurodiverse participants
- BA degree in Education, Human Resources or related field; Masters preferred
- Strong connection with disability; experience with neurodiversity preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES;
- Strong presentation, facilitation and communication skills
- Ability to adapt training methods to diverse learning needs
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in workplace development and neurodiversity
- Experience with in-person and virtual training delivery best practices
