As Chief Cybersecurity Technology Director, you will serve as a senior leader, manager and head of the operational cyber security program responsible for partnering with the State Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in maintaining an enterprise-wide information risk management program for the State’s unified cybersecurity organization. The Chief Cybersecurity Technology Director is an executive role that will work in all areas of Oregon state government business to develop and articulate a shared vision for a “best in class” information security and compliance program to assess appropriate technology platform risks and protect value in the organization.

 

Responsibilities include directing the overall operational effectiveness of the division including participating in security governance, incident response, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance the state's overall security posture. This position requires a seasoned leader with strong public sector business acumen and a detailed working knowledge of information security technologies, practices, policies, and their application to a public governmental organization.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of management experience in Information Security Technologies and Technology Risk Management;

 OR

  • Two years of management experience in Information Security Technologies and Technology Risk Management and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field.

 

Desired Attributes:

  • Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in information security technologies and risk management, ideally with 10 years in a leadership role is preferred.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing information security technologies, strategies, policies, and procedures as well as security frameworks, compliance regulations and budgets.

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal information security regulations and standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cyber security technical teams effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.

  • Expert experience with incident response planning and execution.

  • In-depth understanding of security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, cloud technologies (SIEM, CASB, SD-WAN technologies) etc.

  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls

 

 

Preference Statement:

Preference will be given to those with expert experience in working with and protection of highly sensitive or proprietary information, demonstrated knowledge of security technologies and tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, type of encryption technologies, cloud-based security infrastructure and services; AND/OR those holding professional certifications such as Cloud Security Certification, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH),ITIL, LEAN Six Sigma training/certifications.

  • Employee is required to obtain and maintain CJIS clearance.
