Development Director 
Are you a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a passion for fundraising? Our local non-profit client seeks a Development Director to spearhead fundraising initiatives, cultivate lasting donor relationships, and drive financial growth and organizational impact as part of the leadership team. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with exceptional communication and networking skills, a proven track record in major gifts, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week onsite in Portland, Oregon.

Development Director Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage fundraising efforts of a dynamic arts organization, including handling of major gifts, grants, and corporate donations, to meet annual revenue goals.
  • Oversee and develop your team while directing strategies for major donor, annual and capital fundraising initiatives.
  • Lead high-level donor events and attend performances to support fundraising and community engagement efforts.
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with donors/board members to enhance the organization’s visibility and financial support.
  • Collaborate with leaders on strategic planning, leadership development, and the recruitment of new board members.
  • Manage development budget, grants, donor benefits, and cross-department collaboration to ensure streamlined operations and effective fundraising.


Development Director Qualifications 

  • At least 7 years of professional fundraising experience including development and supervision of a team.
  • Familiarity with Portland arts and culture; non-profit arts experience highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage fundraising events, engage high-net-worth donors, and secure major gifts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field a plus. 
  • Collaborative with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organized with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Tech-savvy and able to learn new systems quickly.


Compensation: $110k-$115k (DOE)
