Senior Compensation Analyst

Your Role: We are looking for a subject matter expert to provide compensation-related consultation to Port leadership, managers and staff that includes maintaining and enhancing our compensation philosophy; discussing proposed position changes and impacts; reviewing internal and pay equity considerations and challenges as well as the impacts of proposed changes based on understanding of organizational structures and positions Port wide. The person in this role will assist with the administration of the Port’s incentive plan, be an integral part of the annual merit administration process and provide compensation and merit training and guidance.

 

Essential Job Duties

 

  • Analyze jobs, conduct job evaluations and benchmark positions against the job market. Analyze, report and provide recommendations on internal equity reviews, and conduct related regulatory audits.  Determine FLSA status and support regulatory needs of the organization pertaining to compensation and wage and hour requirements. 
  • Manage the annual merit process for administrative employees.  Design and deliver training related to the Port’s administrative compensation program, pay equity or similar topics. 
  • Responsible for the Port's library of compensation salary surveys including reviews of the current surveys and exploring alternative sources to remain market competitive. 
  • Administer the annual incentive plan process. Complete the payout analysis and collaborate with accounting and finance to deliver preliminary and final accruals for audit and year end close purposes. Coordinate with payroll and distribution on processing and delivering payouts and employee statements.  Provide analysis on the Port’s recognition program and recommend actions to enhance employee engagement and retention.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and Experience required for this role.

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Business or related field or related experience
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in compensation administration 
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in market-based compensation and administering pay for performance models.
  • Experience: Preferred experience in working within compensation platforms such as CompAnalyst, Payfactors, PayScale, or CompTool
  • License and/or Certification: (Preferred not required) Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of an organization
  • Conduct thorough analyses, draw conclusions, and formulate recommendations
  • Explain complex and technical information to non-expert audiences 
  • Good command of various systems with the expertise to use queries for report generation
  • Successfully partnering with IT systems and software to generate reports, administer and manage program components
  • Systematically prioritize work and respond to multiple requests to ensure timely delivery of services and/or renegotiate due dates when necessary 
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to document processes 
  • Shows the utmost respect for others and is a proven team player 
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to translate data into insights

 

Working Conditions

We offer a flexible hybrid schedule that combines work-life balance with team collaboration. You'll be in the office Tuesday through Thursday to engage with colleagues and support our business lines, with the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.

Compensation

Our organization adheres to established salary ranges for each position to ensure equitable pay practices. However, final offers are determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and considerations of internal pay equity.


SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):

  1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of March 31, 2025.
  2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.
  3. Our goal is to schedule virtual first round of interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible.
