Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is seeking candidates to join our Safety Services team. Safety Services staff are committed to public service by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our community to gather and recreate.  
   
The ideal candidate has experience in a public safety role focused on customer education and helping people comply with organization rules. Applicants should have experience working with diverse communities (including lived experiences) or come from a unique background that adds a new perspective to the team. Strong customer service and an eagerness to work in our diverse Beaverton area community is essential. 
   
A typical day for Safety Services involves acting as a district ambassador by applying a diversity, equity, inclusive, and all-access lens to daily decisions. They are an approachable presence in our parks and facilities providing information and educating our patrons about rules, regulations, and laws that help make our parks and facilities a safe fun place to enjoy. Safety Services often collaborates with local police departments to address safety concerns and improve community safety. 


THPRD is hiring for multiple positions, hours may vary and are based on program need. Part-time benefits (PTB) eligible employees work an average of 20 hours per week but, less than 30 hours, on a year-round basis and are eligible to enroll in a benefits package. Typical hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm or 3:30pm - 11:00pm, approximately 29 hours per week

Qualifications

The fine print: you must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license to drive a district vehicle; ability to obtain the Oregon DPSST Unarmed Private Security Professional, and First Aid/CPR certifications and be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather.

 Education and Experience:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade. 

  • Any specialized training or relevant coursework, preferred. 

Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements: 

  • Must be 18 years of age AND have a valid driver's license 

  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain upon hire 

  • Oregon DPSST Private Security Professional Unarmed certification or ability to obtain upon hire 

  • Basic Pepper Spray certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Bilingual and multilingual skills, preferred.
