JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Support

SUPERVISOR: Clinical Pharmacists

HOURS PER WEEK: 40 (M-F 8am-5pm)/Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Working with TPC providers and clinical staff to provide quality and personalized care. This position supports the Clinical Pharmacist and serves as a resource/expert on medication formularies, prior authorizations, patient assistance programs and other related duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
1. Navigate insurance formularies and be able to contact insurance companies when necessary to determine patient coverage information.*
2. Review medication prior authorization work list to help provide formulary alternatives.
3. Maintain current knowledge of Medicare prescription drug benefits, Social Security, Low-income subsidy, manufacturer assistance programs, manufacturer copay savings cards and disease based assistance from non-profit organizations.*
4. Meet and/or maintain frequent communication with patients and help facilitate the application process for manufacturer assistance programs including screening for income level and determining if a patient qualifies for programs.*
5. Perform medication reconciliation for high risk patients as requested.*
6. Understand how to process, submit and complete medication prior authorizations.*
7. Perform medication adherence calls and document findings in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).*
8. Meet deadlines for completion of assigned tasks.*
9. Understand basic principles of disease state management related to medication issues.*
10. Meet regularly with the pharmacy supervisor to discuss clinic operations and duties*
11. Participate in pharmacy related classes, educational sessions or planned group visits when *appropriate.
12. Attend work regularly as scheduled.*
13. Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
14. Employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business.*
15. Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, customers and vendors.*
16. Abide by company policies.*
17. Other duties as assigned.*

REQUIREMENTS:
⦁ High School Diploma or equivalent
⦁ Current CPR Certification

PREFERENCES:
⦁ National Pharmacy Technician certification
⦁ Must have strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology
⦁ Two to three years of relevant experience
⦁ Experience working in a community/retail pharmacy setting
⦁ Strong ability to correctly read and interpret prescription terminology and medications
⦁ Skill in proper documentation within an Electronic Medical Record
⦁ Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
⦁ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, patients and co-workers
⦁ Must be flexible and able to work well in a fast-paced environment
⦁ Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects at one time
⦁ Ability to demonstrate initiative and ability to function independently
⦁ Experience with Windows, Excel and PowerPoint
