The Manager of Rail MOW Technical Support will develop, implement, and oversee the operations of a technical team supporting the Maintenance of Way (MOW) department. This role involves managing the day-to-day activities of the technical team and ensuring that all work supports agency programs, facilitates State of Good Repair (SGR), and complies with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations.
Additionally, collaborate with various divisions across the agency to support safety and technical initiatives. Plan and establish programs, procedures, and best practices to ensure alignment with the organization's overall objectives while maintaining compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulations, and applicable laws.
This position is also responsible for the management and oversight of assigned staff, ensuring effective leadership and operational success within the department.
This role requires being onsite five (5) days per week.
Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. TriMet is an in-person first organization, with a strong emphasis on in-person collaboration, customer service, and safe and efficient operations. Some positions may be able to work up to two days remotely depending on department policy, business needs, and manager discretion.

A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required, with a bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering or a related discipline being preferred.
A master’s degree in engineering or transportation planning is preferred.
Six (6) years of total credited experience.*
Four (4) years of experience in MOW design, build, commissioning and/or maintenance are required.
Two (2) years of team lead, project management, contract management, or staff management experience coordinating and/or managing plans, schedules and/or deliverables are required.
Professional registration from the State of Oregon and a Project Management Professional Certificate are preferred upon hire.
