Description

The Water Resource Recovery Operations and Services department is seeking a temporary Landscape Specialist. This position assists the Senior Landscape Specialist with managing the work of grounds maintenance contractors, oversees the Water Resource Recovery Operations and Services Department landscape program, leads work crews performing landscaping, and performs landscaping design and specialty maintenance tasks.

Additional Information:

  • Temporary position, up to six months.
  • Full-time, up to 40 hours per week.
  • Any offer of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of references, a driving record review, criminal background check, and medical evaluation.
Essential Functions:

  1. Assists the Senior Landscape Specialist with managing the work of contractors performing grounds maintenance to assure contact provisions are being met and plans, directs, and schedules time and materials work.
  2. Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping installation and removal tasks at District facilities.
  3. Diagnoses landscape health, evaluates appropriate methods of care, and directs the application of fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides for insect control and lawn maintenance.
  4. Monitors and repairs the District's irrigation systems. Assists with the planning and design of system upgrades.
  5. Assists with the design of landscaping beautification projects.
  6. Inspects work performed by landscape contractors.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledges, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required KSAs would be:

3+ years of responsible experience in supervising landscape maintenance or a related field of work;

College coursework in horticulture or related field of study.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Upon selection, candidate must possess and maintain a valid State issued driver's license.
