Position Summary:Â This position provides academic advising to first-year students in the College of Liberal Arts. This position works with first time students and transfer students in the College of Liberal Arts Advising Center. Academic advising is the interface between undergraduate students and the university. Advisors explain requirements, academic regulations, discuss career goals, graduate school interest, and help students understand how OSU can support their educational goals. Academic Advisors look at every potential student interaction as a learning experience. The Academic Advisors in the College of Liberal Arts are champions of a Liberal Arts education and are passionate about it being at the core of higher education.
The advisor will advise e-campus and on-campus students. This requires various forms of communication including in-person appointments, telephone appointments, Zoom, e-mail, etc.
All duties include working with diverse student populations representing a variety of backgrounds, needs, and skills. Important aspects of the work include a holistic approach to academic advising, attention to detail, and frequent contact with other units within the university.
Position Duties:
80% Provide one-on-one advising for individual students including E-campus students.
15% Recruitment, and orientation programs. May require coordination with CLA Career Services to enhance student career planning.
 5% Other duties as assigned.
