Summary:

The Engineering Technician, Sr will support Powin’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) from component to stack and enclosure testing. This includes supporting mechanical and electrical tests and supporting failure analysis and compliance tests. The Engineering Technician, Sr, will regularly partner with other engineers and technicians.

Job Details:

  • Support and own test activities relating to product qualifications and tests for battery systems
  • Read and interpret schematics and single line diagrams
  • Support safety and compliance testing and use of test equipment, including: Hipot, ESD, EMI/EMC, and thermal chambers
  • Support compliance and safety activities during pre and post compliance test activities
  • Partner with Engineering team to support weekly projects schedules
  • Support hardware tests and write test reports
  • Support test process and resolve issues relating to test failures and root cause analysis
  • Support laboratory tests including mechanical and electrical, reliability, environmental and HALT tests for the analysis of electronic components and sub-assemblies
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior staff
  • Follow and observe Powin’s workplace safety standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or certification in engineering technology or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting hardware products and testing
  • Minimum 2 years related engineering experience with ability to read blueprints, schematics, and assembly drawings
  • 2 years’ experience in electrical test equipment DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies and electronics loads
  • Demonstrated experience training junior technicians
  • Ability to solder and de-solder component on PCB, SMT/TH component replacement
  • Ability to use basic test instruments, power supply, DMM, and Oscilloscope
  • Familiar with using electronic test systems and equipment, DC, single and 3 phase-AC
  • Ability to work cross functionally, explain designs and concepts to others with different backgrounds/degrees
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
  • Solid analytical, and problem-solving skills, and can work independently and manage the workload of multiple projects and tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong customer and client service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support international teams
  • Limited travel requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in engineering technology or equivalent relevant experience

  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as those rated to CAT2 and occasionally CAT4

  • Ability to move throughout jobsite which includes minor obstacles (incline, uneven terrain) and could include working from ladders, ladder stands, operating a forklift and occasionally operating a lift
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally

Compensation for this position is commensurate with location, experience and relevant skills.? The national Average Base Salary Range is ?$74,000-$89,000. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and personal performance. ?Additional Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, Short-Term/Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, EAP, 401(k), Flexible Work Arrangements and more.
