Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Compensation and Benefits Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity based in Portland, Oregon. This individual will support the Total Rewards function with a focus on compensation structure, benefit administration, and union-related matters. Multilingual candidates and those with experience in union environments are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain compensation programs, ensuring alignment with internal policies and market competitiveness.

• Conduct job evaluations and salary benchmarking using various compensation tools.

• Manage benefits administration, including open enrollment, broker/vendor coordination, and employee support.

• Oversee retirement plan administration (403(b) and 401(k)) and maintain compliance with plan requirements.

• Support union-related compensation and benefits processes, including interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.

• Collaborate on high-impact projects such as compensation structure refreshes and benefits renewals.

• Provide data analysis, reporting, and insights to support Total Rewards strategies.

• Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS; experience with UKG Ready is a plus.

• Assist with general HR support as needed within the Total Rewards team.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in both compensation and benefits administration.

• Proven experience working in a unionized environment.

• Knowledge of Kaiser medical benefits and retirement plan compliance.

• Familiarity with compensation benchmarking tools and HRIS systems (UKG Ready preferred).

• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Multilingual skills preferred.

• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with 3 days/week in-office presence.

Temp-to-Hire (Initial temporary assignment with the potential to convert to permanent within 3–6 months, based on performance and organizational fit)
