Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District’s (THPRD) Human Resources division is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to join our team for a maximum of six (6) months at 40 hours per week! In this role, you’ll investigate employee concerns working closely with supervisors and leadership to address issues thoughtfully and effectively.
If you have experience conducting workplace investigations with an employee-base comprised of full-time, part-time, and unionized employees, we’d love to hear from you! Experience in the public sector, is a plus but not required.
You’ll be part of an energetic, passionate team that cares deeply about the work they do and the field of parks and recreation. Our staff is dedicated to serving the community and creating a great workplace for employees at all levels.
The successful candidate may work onsite or observe a hybrid schedule but must be available for onsite meetings with staff as-needed.
Interviews will take place in mid-April, with a desire for the selected candidate to start in early May.
What You’ll Do:
- Respond to and investigate workplace concerns, ensuring policies are followed and employees feel heard.
- Balance multiple priorities, including high-risk and time-sensitive issues.
- Complete comprehensive professional reports at the conclusion of each investigation
- Provide coaching and support to supervisors to help them navigate employee-related challenges.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 3 years of experience handling employee relations issues, including in union environments and at-will part-time workforces.
- The ability to conduct on-site investigatory interviews with employees working at various locations throughout Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District.
- Strong judgment and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Clear, direct communication skills and a fair, thoughtful approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work flexibly based on the needs of various managers throughout the district
