Compliance and Regulatory Manager 2, Assistant Inspector General (Salem/Hybrid)

The Office of Inspector General is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Inspector General to lead a team of Professional Standards Investigators within the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

 

This position is approved for a hybrid work schedule; however, onsite presence will be required as needed along with travel to various institutions across the state.

 

About the Job – Your Role

As the Assistant Inspector General you will play a crucial role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and integrity within the Department of Corrections by overseeing internal investigations into misconduct, policy violations, and other workplace integrity matters. 

 

You will be responsible for directing and reviewing complex administrative and criminal investigations, ensuring they are conducted with thoroughness, objectivity, and adherence to established investigative protocols, laws, and agency policies.

 

In this role, you will need to possess extensive knowledge of investigative best practices and ethical standards to assess allegations, gather and analyze evidence, and prepare comprehensive reports for administrative or legal proceedings. 

 

Additionally, you will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic guidance on investigative findings, compliance issues, and policy improvements.

 

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;

OR

Three years of related experience AND a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Requested Skills

  • Strong knowledge of investigative techniques, investigative best practices and evidence gathering;
  • Experience conducting and overseeing complex administrative and criminal investigations;
  • Experience handling misconduct, abuse, or ethical violations within corrections or law enforcement;
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a team of investigators;
  • Experience assigning, reviewing, and prioritizing investigative caseloads;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for providing consultation, education, and training to senior leadership and agency employees.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.
