Description

The IT Instructor will be responsible for delivering technical training to participants in the Abil-IT Program. This role involves teaching IT fundamentals, networking, cybersecurity, and other relevant skills needed to prepare students for careers in information technology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop IT training curriculum 30%
  • Design course content for program curriculum series
  • Ensure content is in line with industry standards and certification requirements

Pilot program content prior to launch of program, revise based upon feedback from focus group/pilot participants; continue to improve content as program evolves

  • Conduct training sessions, workshops and labs 50%
  • Prepare learning plans
  • Deliver and facilitate all in-person and virtual technical training session
  • Seek feedback from participants and observers; adjust based upon feedback
  • Provide individualized support and tutoring for participants as needed
  • Prepare participants for IT certification exams, such as CompTIAA+, Networks+, and Security+
  • Collaborate with Professional Development Instructor to integrate technical training with professional skills development curriculum
  • Assess participant progress 15%
  • Adapt content and methods of instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Provide on-going feedback and regular evaluation of each participant’s progress
  • Other duties as needed 5%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of experience in IT training or education
  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field; professional certification preferred
  • Strong connection with disability; experience with neurodiversity preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES;

  • In-depth knowledge of IT fundamentals, networking and cybersecurity
  • Strong instructional and technical skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience
  • Experience with in-person and virtual training delivery best practices

Performs duties with minimal supervision

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • No direct reports
  • Collaborates with Professional Development Instructor and Job Development Coordinator(s)
