Position overview

Oversees the Application Support team and provides advanced technical support for the credit union’s system applications. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of the Application Support team, ensuring that applications are maintained, and issues are resolved promptly. The Applications and Support Leader collaborates with other IT teams and business units to ensure that application systems meet the needs of the organization and support its strategic goals.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to create a high-performing, creative, and collaborative work environment. Develops a team of motivated, results-oriented individuals promoting cooperation among employees and other departments.
  • Oversees the support and maintenance of the credit union’s applications, ensuring their stability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Provides advanced (Tier III) technical support for complex application issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing impact on business operations.
  • Manages relationships with application vendors, ensuring they provide the necessary support and services to maintain and improve the applications.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve critical issues, track vendor performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and work with management to negotiate contracts for optimal terms.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades and maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and that applications remain up-to-date and secure.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and business units to understand their needs and ensure that application systems support business objectives.
  • Continuously monitor application performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and user experience.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for application configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Leads application-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for the Application Support team, ensuring they have the necessary education, certifications, skills, and knowledge required to perform their duties, effectively.

 

Qualifications

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of three years’ management/leadership experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in application support roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of application support and maintenance, including experience with troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and system upgrades.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex technical issues and optimizing application performance.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining detailed documentation for application configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to lead and manage application-related projects effectively.
  • Must be technologically savvy, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and software applications.
  • This position is a hybrid work model (on-site and remote work).
