Salary Range: $5,842 - $7,774

 

The role: 

Do you have your general journeyman electrical license? Then this might be the job for you! Join our team as an electrician! In this role, you will work with a small field crew who installs, maintains and repairs electrical equipment in and around Ontario! Bring your electrical experience and apply today!

The majority of the work performed by the person in this position will be performed in the Eastern Oregon Border Economic Region.

  • If you are a current Malheur County resident, you will receive 5% preference for this recruitment unless you opt out of receiving the preference.
  • A resident applicant who received preference and accepted the position must maintain residency in Malheur County for at least five consecutive years following the hire date.
  • Failure to maintain residency in Malheur County is considered a voluntary termination of employment from the position.

A day in the life:

  • Maintain, repair and replace any type of electrical equipment or systems controlled by the state.
  • Install or remove and reinstall wiring, circuit breakers, light switches and receptacles in accordance with code requirements.
  • Respond to repair orders, diagnose problems, determine work methods and utilize appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Order and maintain stock of readily available materials for electrical work.
  • Operate equipment including 1.5 ton trucks, backhoes, pavement cutters, electrical testing equipment and more.
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and may require working at heights in excess of 30 feet, lifting up to 60 pounds and being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergencies.

Minimum qualifications:

A general journeyman electrical license.

 

Special qualifications:

  • CDL-A Required: Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions to be considered eligible for this position. You must also have or be able to obtain a tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.
  • This position requires a maximum 30 minute response time to 541 Standon Blvd., Ontario, OR 97914 for emergency call-outs.

  • Working knowledge of the methods and principles of installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Experience with environmental safety hazards and following the necessary precautions in the electrical trade.
  • Working knowledge of state and local codes related to electrical work.
  • Knowledge of time and material estimating to complete electrical work.
  • Experience with electrical design and layouts.
