The Multnomah County Health Department Harm Reduction Program offers education, support and resources to reduce risks associated with substance use. The Bilingual Spanish Office Assistant 2 serves as a cornerstone in providing inclusive and non-judgmental support to clients, including people who use drugs, people experiencing homelessness, as well as BIPOC, parolees, and LGBTQ+ community members seeking harm reduction services. From scheduling appointments and insurance verifications to supply ordering and meeting notating and scheduling, this role plays a vital function in ensuring harm reduction clients have the highest quality of access to our services. This position requires the ability to work in an effective, respectful, non-judgmental and culturally competent manner to increase access to and utilization of resources to eliminate health disparities. Additionally, this position also requires the ability to read, write and speak in both Spanish and English languages.
As the Bilingual Spanish Office Assistant 2, you will:
- Provide administrative support to the team and program, including scheduling appointments for clients seeking sexually transmitted infection (STI) or wound care services.
- Maintain accurate records, receive, process and send faxes; assist with office supply management to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Assist in ordering supplies and maintenance of supply inventory.
- Provide team administrative support by reserving meeting spaces, scheduling and taking notes during team meetings.
- Use EPIC to ensure billable services get billed properly.
- Daily prepare outreach supplies, review inventory, sanitize and clean.
- Support supply delivery; receive and stock inventory across multiple sites; assist with yearly inventory counts.
- Navigate secure web-based data platforms such as EPIC, MMIS (Medicaid portal), PhTec, and other electronic systems.
- Participate in the Southeast Health Center Safety Committee.
- Serve as a front line representative, providing empathetic and non-judgmental assistance to clients from various backgrounds and communities.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
- Education/Training equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
- Two (2) years of general office support or customer service experience dealing directly with the public.
- This position requires experience working in a culturally competent manner with diverse communities of color; people who inject drugs; LGBTQ+ community; parolees; or in an environment in which clients share sexually explicit information.
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English. (Language testing is required).
- Must be able to obtain BLS/ CPR Certification within 60 days of hire.
- Must pass a reference check.
