Multnomah County’s Office of Diversity and Equity is looking for a leader with strong communications,
strategic planning, and supervisory skills along with a demonstrated history of making significant impacts
advancing equity and inclusion initiatives.
The Workforce Equity Manager champions racial justice! The position works at an executive level to
provide Countywide leadership on all aspects of the Workforce Equity Strategic Plan (WESP) in building,
retaining, and fully supporting a multicultural workforce, manages the Workforce Equity Team in the Office
of Diversity and Equity (ODE), serves on the ODE management team with the Chief Diversity and Equity
Officer and Deputy Director, and supports equity and inclusion activities in the County’s Non-Departmental
Offices in collaboration with the Chief Diversity and Equity Officer and the Workforce Equity Team.
Workforce Equity Strategic Plan (WESP) Program Management
- This exciting work includes developing and implementing the next phase of WESP program management. This will involve developing a comprehensive culturally specific and culturally responsive communications strategy, ensuring performance measure compliance, engaging stakeholders, creating periodic reports and communications, and future strategic planning and coordination. With your dynamic facilitation skills and strategic leadership expertise, you are able to build on the existing WESP framework and maintain alignment across systems, lead cross-departmental teams, and carry out plans and efforts between departments in ensuring uniform performance standards are achieved. Your strong collaboration and communication skills will be put to work in building consensus across multiple stakeholders and approaches to equity work.
- You will support the Chief Diversity and Equity Officer (CDEO) and the Office of Diversity and Equity Deputy Director in other equity related strategic planning processes including future updates to the WESP.
- In addition, you will lead the Workforce Equity Team, providing subject matter expertise, and integrating racial justice and equity principles as a key focus to all initiatives and activities with goals to influence a workplace where everyone can thrive and do their best. You and your team will lead and support work related to WESP program management and communications, Employee Resource Group and other stakeholder engagement, Equity and Empowerment Lens tools and application, equity and inclusion support for Non-Departmental Offices and other workforce equity topics and initiatives.
Equity and Inclusion Program Management
- As the Workforce Equity Manager, you will collaborate with the CDEO to support equity and inclusion efforts within the County’s Non-Departmental Offices, providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and consultation on meeting the goals within the WESP, and to develop and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies, programs, and initiatives; evaluate goals, objectives, priorities and activities to improve performance and outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree; Equivilant experience may substitute for a degree.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues and barriers surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion, implicit bias and institutional racism
- Ability to establish and maintain culturally effective working relationships with individuals from various groups and backgrounds which include employees, team members, community members, and senior leadership
