General Duties:

The Executive Director of Transportation develops, directs, monitors, and maintains the overall operational and fiscal resources of the Transportation Department, in accordance with the District’s Strategic Plan.  The Executive Director provides guidance and leadership to Transportation Supervisors in planning and implementing the department’s services and programs to meet the various Department and District needs. In addition, the Executive Director contributes to the development of long-range and operating plans for the department by participating with other executive staff in the formulation of goals and priorities included in the District’s Strategic Plan.

Essential Requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training
• Five years of managerial, professional, or technical experiences for general management or administration
• The ability to follow oral and written instructions
• The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
• The ability to work harmoniously with others
• Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
• Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
• The ability to learn new systems as required by the District
• Experience working in and/or knowledge of the pupil transportation industry
• Demonstrated ability to manage the fiscal and operational aspects of a large student transportation department with the ability to forecast and plan
• Proven experience in working positively with people
• Knowledge and understanding of transportation concepts, rules and regulations governing the school transportation industry
• Preferred experience with technology and Transportation application system
